She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Finale and Season Review

2 minutes, 26 seconds Read

The season finale of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and was by far one of best finales for a Marvel Disney+ show. The episode opens with a dream sequence meant to honor the old Hulk series This was a great nod to the past and was a hysterical callback. We then see Jen’s life falling apart after Intelligencia set her up at the end of the previous episode. Following this we see so many random plots coming together making the story so incoherent to both the audience and Jen that she breaks the fourth wall in the most meta way possible. We see Jen open the Disney+ menu and go into the world that makes Marvel Studios content. This was absolutely genius and even made me pause for a second to make sure the episode was properly playing. While there she confronts the writers about how bad the finale is and demands to see Kevin. Jen beats through guards wanting to see Kevin. This bit subverted fans expectations of seeing Kevin Feige onscreen but instead an A.I. named K.E.V.I.N. who is the real creator of the MCU. This whole interaction between Jen and K.E.V.I.N. is hysterical as they address a lot of the most recent criticisms of the MCU and decide to actually fix the plot of the finale. Jen even does fans a solid and asks about the X-Men and asks to see Daredevil again. Jen goes back to her world and we see all the changes that have been made so that the story carries on in a better way. The episode ends with Matt and Jen at lunch with her family and Hulk shows up revealing his son, Skaar, a very notable character from Hulk comics. We see a post credit scene seeing Wong break Emil out of prison, possibly teasing we might see him again in the future. This finale was fantastic and was so meta that it really showed you how far the MCU is willing to go. As someone who was not the biggest fan of this series, the finale kind of saved the show for me because it addressed and fixed the issues that happened over the span of the story. This episode had me in tears of laughter and pointing at the screen over and over again. The finale of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is 10/10.

While the season did drag at times, it was an interesting ride with some fun moments. The finale was able to course correct a lot of the problems with the show and make those dragging moments a little more worth it in the end. Tatiana Maslany was the perfect choice for Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and carried the show so well. The three standout episodes of the season were episodes 1,8, and 9. The overall rating for the first season of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” is 7/10.
