3 minutes, 9 seconds Read

On Saturday September 10th, D23 held their Marvel Studios panel and talked about the future of Marvel projects. They kicked off the panel with a musical performance of “Rogers: The Musical” as seen in “Hawkeye”. The first project discussed was “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” where director Ryan Coogler walked out with the cast on stage. It is still in the cutting room but they were able to show some more footage including a longer segment of Queen Ramonda. It shows Wakanda at its weakest with the loss of T’Challa and how every piece of the globe wants to take their vibranium. Coogler then led directly into the “Ironheart” series as Dominique Thorne will debut in the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and star in the series. Anthony Ramos has officially joined the cast as The Hood. The series is set to show off the battle between technology and magic. Moving on, “Antman and The Wasp: Quantumania” brought the cast and director on stage to show off some footage. Since Jonathan Majors will be playing the film’s antagonist, Kang the Conqueror, it was confirmed that the film will lead directly into “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” if the title didn’t already give it away. It was finally confirmed that the Halloween special, “Werewolf By Night” exists and will be released on October 7th. Director Michael Giacchino and the cast made an appearance and released the vintage horror filled trailer. Next up, a trailer for “Secret Invasion” was released and showcased a dark spy thriller series with Nick Fury at the lead. Don Cheadle is set to return as Rhodey in “Secret Invasion” and it was confirmed that it sets up his own series, “Armor Wars”. The cast of “Loki” followed to discuss season two of the series and showed some footage off. It was revealed that Ke Huy Quan would be joining their second outing in an unknown role. Feige then quickly confirmed Matt Shakman was directing “Fantastic Four” and unfortunately revealed none of the cast. The cast of “Echo” then joined the stage and discussed the series. They showed footage that included Wilson Fisk with an eyepatch, confirming his fate at the end of Hawkeye. After the “Echo” segment was over, Vincent D’Onofrio remained on stage to discuss his other show. Charlie Cox then joined D’Onofrio on stage to discuss “Daredevil: Born Again”. The series received a new logo and is set to start filming in 2023. A clip from Daredevil’s episode in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” was also shown to the audience. Moving onto “Captain America: New World Order”, a new logo was revealed and the cast and director Julius Onah were brought on stage. Anthony Mackie will return as Sam Wilson/Captain America for his first leading film in the MCU. Of the cast, it was confirmed that Danny Ramirez would be returning as Joaquin Torres to suit up as the new Falcon and that Carl Lumbly would return as Isaiah Bradley. It was revealed that Tim Blake Nelson will be returning to the MCU for the first since “The Incredible Hulk” (2008) as The Leader. Onah described the film as a “paranoid thriller”. Feige then moved onto “Thunderbolts” and introduced the lineup and brought the cast onstage. He showed off the concept art which included Val, Ghost, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, and Taskmaster. They finished off the panel with “The Marvels” where they brought the cast and director onstage and gave the audience some footage.

While it might look like a lot was revealed during Marvel’s D23 panel, it was actually a lot less than expected. They doubled down on what was revealed at San Diego Comic Con and didn’t reveal anything groundbreakingly new.

The D23 Marvel Panel was unfortunately a flop.
