Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special Review

1 minute, 23 seconds Read

In honor of Valentine’s Day, DC debuted a special extended episode of “Harley Quinn” full of laughs and love. The forty minute special titled, “Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special” took some of the best ideas and characters from the series and threw them into a hilarious Romcom.

Story

The episode focuses on Harley and Ivy trying to enjoy Valentine’s Day but they both have their own way of enjoying it. Obviously this sparks the whole conflict and premise of the episode but it is done in a gracefully chaotic and an enjoyable manner.

The Good

The main standout of the episode was Bane. Bane has his own little story that ties into the climax of the story and similar to most episodes he steals the show. I would find myself wanting to go back to Bane’s story the most purely because of how funny and ridiculous it was. There were also some very funny cameos of iconic DC characters that showed off their Valentine’s Day romance.

The Bad

Clayface also had an interesting story to say the least. While his little arc may have seemed comedic for most, it did not land as well for me. Not to say it wasn’t funny but there was no intrigue to come back to his part in the story during the whole special.

Review

As with almost every episode of “Harley Quinn” you can expect some extremely chaotic and sometimes unspeakable things. This Valentine’s Day special is no different. This extended episode was a delight to watch and didn’t pull any punches. “Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special” is an 8/10.
