Superman & Lois Season 3 Episode 3 Review

1 minute, 28 seconds Read

Superman & Lois” continues its emotional focus on Lois Lane but loses a little momentum in its third episode.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Story

This episode sees Clark repeatedly having bad dreams that he cannot save Lois from a collapsing Daily Planet. Lois continues to duck her chemotherapy to follow leads on Bruno Manheim instead. The Lang’s engage in family drama because of the divorce. Jordan, Nat, and Jon track down their stolen truck and give a sentimental watch to Lois as support.

The Good

One of the coolest looking parts of the episode was Clark’s dream sequences. Seeing Metropolis crumble to pieces and the Daily Planet falling on Lois not only grabbed audience attention but showed the unspoken emotional state of Clark. It is obvious Clark feels powerless because he cannot save his wife from cancer and this is what he compares it too. Lois prioritizing a story over her own health is exactly what the character would do in any medium. This further proves why Bitsie Tulloch and the writers understand the character. Lois’ story is just so captivating and the part that I am always drawn towards in each episode.

The Bad

Unfortunately the rest of the episode was less interesting. The Lang drama is obviously part of the story but just falls flat and feels useless. While it was a shakeup to see the confrontation between Sarah and Lana, it can feel like a broken record of a story at times for the characters. I noticed myself only really invested or paying attention when Clark or Lois were onscreen but I cannot say the same for the rest of the episode.

Review

Overall it was a mediocre episode that keeps you invested in the stories that actually matter. Episode three is 6/10
