The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 6 Review

2 minutes, 6 seconds Read

The Mandalorian” delivers an interesting side quest but furthers its story in a fun episode.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Story

This episode sees Bo-Katan and Mando on their way to find the other Mandalorians on a new planet called Plazir-15. In order to reach the other Mandalorians, they are instructed to solve a droid malfunctioning mystery. They finally figure out the cause and bring the Commissioner to justice.

After this, Din and Bo-Katan meet with Axe Woves, Koska Reeves, and the other Mandalorians. Bo-Katan defeats Axe Woves in combat to gain back control of the unit of Mandalorians. Finally the episode ends with Din giving possession of the Darksaber to Bo-Katan to earn back the trust of her troops.

The Good

This episode was a well done side quest that introduced a cool new planet and storyline.

There were some interesting cameos yet again in this new addition to the series. Jack Black portrayed Captain Bombardier, Lizzo played The Duchess, and even Christopher Lloyd shows up as Commissioner Helgait.

The droid plot was very well done and was a cool investigative story. Seeing Din and Bo-Katan team up to solve a street level mystery was something I didn’t know I needed to see but it was worth every second.

Bo-Katan fighting Axe Woves was a great battle. This battle showed how skilled Bo-Katan really is in live action and how she could be the true ruler of Mandalore.

Din handing off the Darksaber to Bo-Katan resolved one of my previous issues with this season. There was no development of him being able to use it or get better with it at all this season. Now it is clear that they were doing this so we wouldn’t get our hopes up and allow the transition to happen. It also makes her use of it in the second episode much more impactful.

The Bad

The only problem I had with this episode was how Din handed off the Darksaber to Bo-Katan. While I like the story choice of her gaining its possession, I didn’t like how it came about. Din giving it to her on a technicality just didn’t feel right or consistent with the logic of this story. Also the moment should’ve had more buildup or preface because it felt less impactful and sort of came out of the blue.

Review

Everything else aside, this was a great episode of “The Mandalorian” and we cannot wait to see where the final two chapters take us. Episode six is 8/10.
