On August 22, 2022, it was reported by TV Line that the animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader” would no longer continue with HBO Max. The series was set to be produced by some of the best names in the comic book industry: Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Ed Brubaker. Bruce Timm has had massive praise over his work in projects such as “Batman: The Animated Series”, “Justice League: The Animated Series”, “Superman: The Animated Series”, and many more, therefore fans of his work had high expectations and levels of excitement for this upcoming animated series. Unfortunately those levels will need to be reduced as the series will be “shopped to other outlets” according to TV Line. Warner Brothers Discovery’s new CEO, David Zaslav, has been shutting down many projects and trying to steer the company in the right direction after its recent merger. DC hasn’t had the greatest reputation in terms of consistent quality with their projects so Zaslav is doing everything he can to save the company money and restore its reputation even if that means shelving $90 million films. While excitement for a new Bruce Timm DC project was high, fans will just have to be patient and hope the show will find a new home to stream someday.
