It was announced not too long ago that Bassam Tariq would be directing the upcoming “Blade” film with Mahershala Ali to star. That is no longer the case as The Hollywood Reporter just revealed that Tariq has left the project.
Tariq commented on his exit saying, “It’s been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.” Marvel’s statement to The Hollywood Reporter lists his reason for exit as “continued shifts in our production schedule”.
This is unfortunate as “Blade” is one of the most anticipated projects to be released in the Phase 5 lineup.
As of now the November 3rd, 2023 release date is still set but could be changed based on how soon Marvel is able to pick up a new director.
