D23 2022 Coverage: Star Wars Panel Recap

On Saturday September 10th, D23 held their Lucasfilm panel and talked about the future of Star Wars projects. Starting off with “Andor”, a new trailer was shown and the cast was brought out on stage. It was also announced that season two of the series will be beginning production soon. “Andor” will have a three episode premiere on Disney Plus September 21st. Next up, Dave Filoni came out on stage and talked about a few upcoming projects. First Filoni, revealed an incredible new trailer for “Tales of the Jedi” and announced that it will consist of six animated shorts all releasing on October 26th. Filoni also discussed the return of “The Bad Batch” returning for season two on January 4th, 2023 and showed a few stills from the show. Filoni then brought out Jon Favreau and talked about “Ahsoka” starring Rosario Dawson and showed a few stills from the series. He describes this series as his “magnum opus” which is fitting because he has been with this character since her debut and helped make her one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars. Filoni and Favreau welcomed Jon Watts and Jude Law on stage to talk about their upcoming series “Skeleton Crew” starring Law. Finally the most anticipated panel, Filoni and Favreau talked about the third season of “The Mandalorian” and brought the cast on stage. Of the cast, it was surprising to see that the incredible Giancarlo Esposito will be returning as Moff Gideon for this third outing alongside Pedro Pascal. To finish the Star Wars panel off they released the amazing trailer worldwide saying that Mando and Grogu will be back in 2023.
