Is DC Here for the Comeback?

1 minute, 30 seconds Read

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter broke the internet by releasing a slew of information about the future of DC and their upcoming projects. The most notable was that a new Superman film with Henry Cavill is in early stages of development. Considering Dwayne Johnson has basically confirmed at this point that Cavill will be reprising his role in the upcoming “Black Adam” this solidifies that The Rock is setting up his future confrontation with the “Last Son of Krypton”.

Previous DC execs did not want to move forward with Cavill but Johnson pushed to bring him back.

Whether this is considered a “Man of Steel” sequel with Zach Snyder or a soft reboot is still unknown at this point but a welcome surprise nonetheless. Another point to come from THR was that the script for “The Flash” sequel has already been written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick if the first film succeeds.

If Ezra Miller will star in the upcoming is a big mystery that only time will answer. A script for “Wonder Woman 3” is also supposed to be in the works by previous director Patty Jenkins. Following that, it was confirmed that James Gunn has signed on to direct another mystery DC film. Lots of theories point to a Bloodsport solo film considering the popularity of the character and rumors that we would see him again soon or it could be a completely new property not yet introduced in the DCEU.

Finally moving away from the DCEU, Matt Reeves is building out his Batman universe. THR reported that he is in early development of spinoff villain movies for Professor Pyg, Clayface, and Scarecrow.

Considering the sheer amount of things that came from The Hollywood Reporter’s article, it shows that DC is coming back to try and restore their reputation after their misguided 2022.
