She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Episode 5 Review

2 minutes, 14 seconds Read

The fifth episode of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” was released and continues the rivalry between She-Hulk and Titania. As seen in the end of the last episode, Titania trademarked the name “She-Hulk” before Jennifer and sent her a cease and desist. This episode picks up with the story of Jennifer trying to win her name back in a court case against Titania. To do so, she recruits all the dates she went on as She-Hulk to testify. While certainly embarrassing for Jennifer, it gets the job done and proves to the court that She-Hulk is her name winning the case. Jameela Jamil as Titania is more of a goofy and antagonistic nuisance compared to her comic book counterpart but it fits the tone of the show. It would be cool to see a little more of the beast Titania can be in the comics and some more action from her character. On the other hand Nikki and Pug make a deal to help each other. Nikki needs help getting better clothes for Jennifer including a super suit so Pug finds a reputable outfitter in exchange for Nikki standing in line so Pug can get the two new pairs of the Iron Man Three’s. We actually see Pug’s shoe collection in the illustrated credits of the episode which includes nods to some interesting characters we have yet to see such as The Thing, Cyclops, Ghost Rider, Deadpool, Nova and more. Finally, Jennifer meets with an Edna Mode (The Incredibles) like figure named Luke who makes her many new business suits and even her super suit. The episode ends with Daredevil’s new gold cowl being teased which made me just up out of my chair. It looks like we will see the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in the following episode which is very exciting. She-Hulk has yet to have a bad episode but the overall story could be better. While it is awesome to have cameos of characters you love, that is not what should make a show. It should be able to stand on its own and those cameos should be a bonus for the ride, however She-Hulk relies on the use of other characters such as Hulk, Abomination, Wong and Daredevil to make it exciting. This episode had no cameos and couldn’t stand on its own. The only thing that has me excited for next episode was the Daredevil tease but that should not be the sole reason why I want to keep watching.

I really enjoy Tatiana’s Maslany’s performance as Jennifer Walters and this episode wasn’t a great highlight of how good she already is. Episode five is 6/10.
