“Superman & Lois” delivers yet another fantastic episode that really focuses on the family aspect of this series.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Story
Clark tries to make Lois relax after just going through chemotherapy but she still wants to show up as a mother. Clark destroys all his blood at the DOD because it is likely how Atom-Man got his newfound powers.
Jonathan is punched by Candice’s father after confronting him. Jordan deals with the wants of his grandfather versus what he wants.
John Henry sees his sister’s doppelganger but she ends up being kidnapped and he rescues her after confronting Bruno Manheim. Lana, Sarah, and Kyle deal with the repercussion of Sarah being slapped.
Finally both Lois and Clark deal with Candice’s father in their own ways and Sam gives Jordan a super suit.
The Good
Easily the best part of this episode was when Clark confronted Emmitt Pergande in the diner. Clark being evidently mad as a family man rather than Superman shows his care for his family. There was even a little homage to “Man of Steel” when Emmitt pushes Clark but he doesn’t move.
Lois has been shining this season and further proving her impact on the show. Her dialogue about how cancer doesn’t affect her need to be a mother shows her strength and why we love this character so much.
While usually the Lang family drama is less interesting, this episode had me invested in their story the whole time. Seeing how Sarah’s parents deal with not only a divorce but a mistake in reprimanding their child was done perfectly. When Kyle started talking to Sarah about her attempted suicide, that scene hit real hard and suddenly made reminded you the damage this family has experienced.
Bruno Manheim is such an interesting villain and immediately proved that he doesn’t play around. There is a constant want to see more of him and how he faces our heroes.
Finally Jordan being gifted a super suit from his grandfather was an amazing surprise. We cannot wait to see what he will look like wearing it in action.
The Bad
There were no issues with this episode.
Review
This was easily one of best recent episodes to date and further proves how well “Superman & Lois” can balance drama and action seamlessly. Episode four is 9/10.
