Recently Deadline confirmed that Clayface would be a major addition to the upcoming “The Batman Part II”.

The Pitch

Deadline revealed that director of “Doctor Sleep”, Mike Flanagan pitched a feature film based on Clayface to James Gunn and Peter Safran. If this was intended to be set in the new DCU or Matt Reeves’ Batman universe is still unknown. However, this pitch is what gave clarity to Clayface being in “The Batman Part II”.

The Batman Part II

We are curious if Clayface will be the main antagonist of the film or one of a few similar to how Reeves’ introduced Catwoman, Riddler and Penguin in “The Batman”. Given the emotional complexity of the character, it would be the best to make him the main villain.

Even more interesting would be to see if Reeves will introduce the fantastical nature or ground him to further fit into the tone of “The Batman” universe. I personally would like to see him take on the fantastical nature because of his experience with films like “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”.

Fans will have to be patient and find out more about the involvement of Clayface in the upcoming film. “The Batman Part II” is set to hit theaters October 3rd, 2025.
